Analysis of voluntary reported adverse drug reactions in a tertiary care hospital

Background: Adverse drug reactions are the major cause for increased hospital stay and it increases economic burden of patients. Reporting ADR helps in signal generation to ensure safe use a drug. Present study was conducted analyse reporting pattern completeness forms. Methods: This retrospective 6 months tertiary care hospital. A total 330 forms were analysed assessed. Results: ADRs reported. 46% reported 2018, 23% 2019, 11% 2020, 8.9% 2021 10.7% 2022. 177 (53%) males 153 (47%) females. Most occurred reaction Hyponatremia 22 (6%), followed by Hypokalaemia 18 (5%). Neuropsychiatry cases 62 (18.78%), Urinary system 45 (13.63%). 122 (88%) patients taking concomitant drugs whereas only 17 (12%) not taking. Above 80% seen 155 (46.96%) 70% 292 (88.68%) Conclusions: occurrence high male compared female. affected system. Antimicrobials responsible majorly cephalosporins (17.6%) Penicillin (11.76%). Overall form 80%, 67.87% adequately filled with mandatory fields.
